For applicants applying from a tax exempt organization registered with the IRS. Organization must be listed in the IRS Business Master File.

Register as an organization with a 501(c) fiscal sponsor
For applicants applying from an organization/program with a fiscal sponsor that is a 501(c) organization registered with the IRS. Organization’s fiscal sponsor must be listed in the IRS Business Master File.

A fiscal sponsor is a nonprofit organization that provides fiduciary oversight, financial management, and other administrative services to help build the capacity of charitable projects. Your organization/project is required to have an agreement in place with the fiscal sponsor prior to applying.

Register as an elementary or secondary school
For applicants applying from a public or private elementary or secondary school. School districts should register as government entities.

The applying school or college must be available in the school search of the National Center for Education Statistics.

Register as a government entity (including city and county agencies, school districts, libraries, and colleges and universities)
For applicants applying from a government entity that does not comply with the first three options. Entity must have a valid EIN.

Register as an organization with a charitable purpose that does not comply with the options above
For applicants applying from an organization other than what is listed above. Organization must have a valid EIN.
